Your changes to legislation and regulation with respect to conservation authorities, including this proposal, demonstrates some key facts:
*this government does not care about the opinions of educated experts and would rather have FEWER of these experts in favour of non-experts that are more easily influenced by tax dollars and developers
*this government actively does not trust experts, because when they disagree with government or developer proposals (for SCIENTIFIC, not opinion-based reasons), there is little recourse (as it should be, when making evidence-based decisions).
*as a result, this government is very interested in removing any authority from the conservation AUTHORITY, including the latitude for the experts to decide what programs and actions are appropriate for those public lands, for the public good, and to uphold the PPS
Ontario's conservation authorities are a unique and effective setup that has been working. Ask yourselves, please, WHY are you changing them?
I disagree with past, present (this proposal) and likely with subsequent phases of your approach and changes with respect to conservation authorities. Please do not proceed.
