On behalf of the Township of Oro-Medonte we appreciate the opportunity being provided by the Ministry to provide our municipal comments through this posting regarding the Regulatory Proposals (Phase 1) under the Conservation Authorities Act on the future role of Conservation Authorities in Ontario. The Township of Oro-Medonte is regulated by both the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority and the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority and is therefore impacted by the proposed regulations. At their June 23, 2021 Council meeting, Township of Oro-Medonte Council endorsed Staff Report DS2021-095 and also supported the comments contained in the Township of Wasaga Beach staff report to be reflected in the Township's submission (both of which are appended). The Township looks forward to a future opportunity to have clarity on the ability for public consultation on the detailed regulations, assurances that new MOU's are required between the municipality and the Conservation Authority and that current LOU's expire, and also confirmation that land use plans review services associated with Natural Heritage matters is considered a non-mandatory program and service amongst the other matters identified through the two appended municipal reports.
