Purchasing a specially dedicated tablet should not be required. Many shops have already invested in this technology and are currently doing their own digital inspections with other software programs. This program needs to be delivered in a way that allows shops to install an application onto their own devices. Each participating shop should have a main garage account and create user profiles for each registered technician to log in on the company-owned devices.
Duplicating this technology or creating a single dedicated tablet for these inspections is an ineffective approach that does not benefit the participants. It's common for shops to have multiple vehicle inspections and emission inspections all happening simultaneously. Having only one dedicated tablet will create many problems for shops and technicians. It's easy to understand that this will cause large delays in inspection times, further complicate appointment scheduling, significantly decrease shop productivity, and increase overall frustration with the new program, to name a few.
Any shop with any previous violation in the program should not be permitted to enter into a contract for the new program. This approach empowers the shops that are following the SOP and have proven their commitment to the program.
