With regards to MVIS potential changes: Passenger / Light-Duty Vehicle Inspection Standard

With the new MVIS tablet system, is there a time limit to complete the inspection, Time of day use and limit of inspections to be carried per day as a recheck vs initial inspection differ.

How is the road test going to change or improve under the new system as some failures are on road test only and not visible during inspection, IE: transmission issues, speedometer, ABS drivability issues, suspension and axles. etc... During the required road test do you want us to hold the MTO tablet (electronic device) contrary to the law on holding an communication device in Ontario or will we be exempt from that law.

All possible gray areas need to be removed. no technician judgment calls, its either a "pass" or "fail". Currently a noisy wheel bearing passes with no perceivable play, but we all know it will have play in a short time after. A crack in windshield passes initial inspection and then travels 2 days later to an area that would cause a fail. We need clear directions on all rejections. If the Passenger / Light-Duty Vehicle Inspection Standard makes no mention of the system or areas of concern then its good to go.

We need to be almost a lawyer to decipher the text. For example, if a Jeep comes in minus the doors, it passes inspection as you cannot inspect something not attached, so why cant a passenger van "Toyota Sienna" that has known bad hinges come in minus the doors as well to get around the bad hinges issue.

I don't see how a MTO tablet will help these gray area issues. In fact, it might actually help create new ones with very enterprising individuals with knowledge on how to defeat and hide the defects even though it is being recorded for historical purposes.
