I have a concern with 381/02 changes to have Enforcement place vehicles with emission defects out of service and to remove the plates. I am a Fleet Manager with over 35 years of experience in the field, I am a licensed 310T and 310S journeyman. I fully support the intention of the change but am concerned that an amber check engine light coming on for a high resistance value in a wiring harness brought on by a precipitation event could potentially take a vehicle off the road. This would result in a great hardship for the operator of said vehicle and the goods and services that the operator provides. Perhaps some thought could be given to dealing with the severity of the emission fault as to the consequences to that Commercial vehicle. I am aware there are operators of commercial vehicles that do not respect the emission laws, however there are so many more that do and some consideration should be given to those that do their utmost to ensure their commercial vehicles are in compliance with the laws of Ontario.
Thank you.
