We are heading in a dangerous direction if we continue to toy with ideas like this. Between climate change and existing developments, we are already running out of usable farmland in the area the greenbelt protects. We have plenty of ways to improve housing density and increase the effectiveness of the land we are using without encroaching upon protected land. There is plenty of less damaging land available in the shield if we need to continue expanding.
