Stop killing the environment just to build more homes of which only 2 or 3 corporation will own the whole lot.
What will happen in 2030 when, again, there is a lack of homes? Keep stripping the land of anything natural? Once you get to this stage, its really easy to keep going and killing more of Ontario each time. I can see that the last stage would be to demolish all of Algonquin park and make it into another city of unaffordable housing.
Instead, try and see what would happen if people owned homes and nor corporations. Not just people, but people who live in Canada. There is no real reason why a company should own 40,000 homes and dictate rent. The only reason is 100% pure profit for their shareholders.
THAT is the issue that will solve this. Regular people simply cannot compete against corporations, we bid $200k on a home and that is all we can afford and even then just barely... the corporation will simply offer $275 because, hey, its not a big deal to them. THIS is what is causing the unaffordable housing, not lack of housing but lack of housing people can afford.
Try to solve something without killing the planet. Its possible, its just that its harder and its obvious that our government is more likely to do the easy/quick/terrible outcome rather then come up with an actual solution that solves issues and doesn't just delay them for the next generation.
