I know that this is about building homes and that farm businesses are an unintended beneficiary of bill 23 changes to the conservation authorities. But do not back down on these changes. We beg you!!!!!
The conservation authority in our area has figured out a way to charge exorbitant permit fees because it is close to a PSW. This is further from the truth as they are not PSWs. They are putting buffers of constraint around man made ponds that are used to put out fires if it was necessary. They started this in 2018 from aerial photography calling every dark spot a PSW. No notification, no ground truthing, no appeal process. Just a map of ones property with a huge buffer on it. The CA is in business for themselves hiding behind an environmental regulatory agency. They plant trees and call the trees natural heritage and if a farm wants to build a Ag building they have to pay special fees. No wonder it takes over 3 years to get permits and large fees to get anything built here. I am not exaggerating in anything i am saying as it is even worse then what i am commenting on. You have the idea here and our parent organization so far has not supported and taken a firm stand against the CAs and has thrown agriculture under the bus!!!!! CHANGE THE SYSTEM AS IT IS BROKEN in how the CA maps PSWs. They need to be scoped, ground truthed , have an appeal process and not handled by the local CA….
