These proposed changes would result in more rural land and farm land being developed for housing. Housing developments outside of existing towns and cities result in more people who don't have the option to walk, bike, or take transit for their transportation. Has the government studied how this will impact the provinces climate change commitments?
Housing developments on rural and farm lands often requires a public investment to improve road and other infrastructure at the time of development, and increased maintenance costs going forward. In rural settings these costs are shared between fewer people than in a town or city. Has the government examined these costs and ensured that this plan will not actually make housing less affordable?
