This Bill, in an effort to build so called "affordable housing" seems to be throwing out all the steps of good planning and consultation. When you rush ahead and pass the Bill before hearing what the residents of Ontario feel one gets the feeling that government really does not want or value my opinions. Why is the Bill already passed before the end of the comment period?
It is absurd to reduce the amount of parkland required in a given development. This makes no sense because we know the importance of access to open space for mental health reasons. Especially if the density of people is higher you need space for the community to meet and to play.
The development charges should not be reduced or eliminated. This will cause the tax rate of existing rate payers to rise. The developers will not pass on these savings to the new buyers when they sell these new units. They will take it as profit.
I am extremely angry and upset with this proposed legislation. It throws out good planning process that is well tested and has worked all in the name of giving more freedom to developers.
