I think that removing newspaper requirement is fine and I support broadening the range of compliance tools for violations. However I am concerned about expanding the Ministers regulation making powers with respect to permitted uses in the Niagara Escarpment area. While the examples given sound pretty minor and benign, I feel that Minister may be able to abuse this power if that person can override environmental protections and good planning. Giving too much power in the hands of one elected official is a recipe for allowing reduced environmental protections.
