I support the move to place the lands of Duffins-Rouge Agricultural preserve back into the greenbelt, and to revert the changes from 2022. These lands are some of the best agricultural land not only in the province, but in the entire country. Having productive farmland nearby is incredibly important as food prices rise due to global instabilities, and help with local food security by keeping prices lower for fresh, nutritious produce.

These lands should never have been removed from the greenbelt in the first place, they are far too valuable long-term. The government should also focus on policies to support farming in the greenbelt, and the DRAP. Farming is a challenging business, and supporting farmers and agriculture as an economically and environmentally sustainable livelihood is important. While there may be opportunity to help farms with housing for families, the DRAP and greenbelt changes should be reverted.
