Get It Done Act, 2024 – Amending the Official Plan Adjustments Act, 2023

We are submitting the following correspondence in response to ERO 019-8273, specifically as it pertains to official plan for Regional Municipality of Waterloo, and to express support for the approval and implementation of the updated Official Plan as proposed to be approved through the Get It Done Act, 2024.
We represent Greybrook Realty Partners, landowners within the expansion area of the City of Cambridge. The Greybrook property was included in the settlement area of the City of Cambridge through the original Provincial approval of the Region of Waterloo’s Official Plan in April, 2023. A resolution of the Mayor and Council in December, 2023 requested that these lands remain in the settlement area boundary.
We are pleased to see that the Greybrook property remains within the settlement area, as shown on Map No. 349 of the Official Plan Adjustments Act, 2023. We support the amendments to the Region of Waterloo mapping that will be implemented through the Get It Done Act, 2024 which expand the settlement area boundary of the City of Cambridge. This will enable our client to embark on the municipal approvals required to build and deliver a range of badly needed housing options and contribute to fulfilling Ontario’s critical housing supply objectives.
We look forward to working with both the City of Cambridge and the Region of Waterloo to undertake the necessary reports and studies in a timely fashion to implement a Secondary Plan for the expansion lands and allow for the logical and responsible growth of the City.
