Yes, I support the establishment of a hunting season for double breasted cormorants in Ontario. This invasive species has a voracious appetite for our fish including game fish species.

The proposal to change regulations governing the hunting of the double crested cormorant in Ontario seems draconian. The proposed season is far too long. The bag limit is ridiculously big. Lire davantage

I am an avid hunter, fisherman and conservationist that lives in the Lake St. Clair basin where sport fishing and hunting are a very important way of life, and for many, an income and way of supporting their families. Lire davantage

Please do not allow this cull. We need to stop interfering with nature. Animals have as much right to be on this planet as we do. Humans are a problem not the animals. Also this is just sickening to allow some hunter with a weapon to just step in and have at them. It is cruel. Do the right thing

The fact that the commercial fishing industry is one of the groups concerned about these birds tells me everything I need to know. They're worried that the cormorants are impacting the fish population? They want there to be an abundance of fish for them to kill? Lire davantage

I do not profess to hold any expertise or observation on the impact of the cormorant population on other animal or fish species. Lire davantage

The recent proposal for a cormorant cull is, in my opinion, unjustified and unscientific. The proposal did not produce any scientific evidence backing up claims that there is an overpopulation of these birds nor supporting data of the so called damage they create. Lire davantage

I do not support the cormorant cull being proposed. Humans cause by far the most destruction to the environment and it is very important that we stop interfering with nature. Please reconsider.

Please reconsider this and save the cormorant by not allowing them to be killed. Please do not open a hunting season for cormorants.

The Cormorant hunt policy is being put in place without any scientific data to support it. Duck hunters are not likely to waste time and ammunition on a species that is inedible. Those shooting cormorants may include some yahoos who enjoy shooting at things. Lire davantage

I am opposed to the proposed cormorant hunt as it is presented on the basis that it is not based on scientific evidence for specific colonies and does not include proper monitoring of the effect the hunt would have on the population of cormorants. Lire davantage

Human intervention is not, and never has been, the answer to achieving a balance in nature. Cormorants are not sitting around plotting how to best decimate the populations of fish that humans prefer to catch. Lire davantage

Listen to the scientists that say this is a bad idea. Don’t listen to fisherman who only have their own interests at heart. Let nature find it’s own balance and stay out of the way.

Cormorants are the greatest gift to our lakes feeding on alien species. They also provide cities with dead trees which are more natural than cleaning up all dead wood . People complain they are killing trees. Lire davantage

Please count me as a taxpayer of Ontario who is very much opposed to the proposed hunt of double crested cormorants in Ontario. Thank you
