This proposal flies in the face of Canada's long-standing reputation as a protector of natural resources and wildlife. There is no earthly reason to allow hunting that wastes the catch. NONE. Lire davantage

I oppose establishing a hunting season for double-crested cormorants in Ontario. Let's value nature and the safety of residents near our beautiful Ontario lakes.

It’s about time..Mnr waited too long to take action...the damage to our fisheries is devastating...our government needs to stop bring in invasive species...all the Mnr does it cause harm to our resources...retrain Mnr to go back to its grassroots...managing the resource

The proposed hunt of cormorants is a thinly-veiled slaughter of a native species. The proposed plan has not been created using verifiable data but appears to be based on complaints from a few affected individuals. Lire davantage

The damage caused by these birds whether killing fish species ( not just gobies as some would like to believe) and the damage to the trees and lands that they kill with their excrement must be controlled with a hunting season. Lire davantage

I agree 100% that something needs to be done about the cormorant population. This breed of bird does no good for the environment and it is a shame to see their destruction; I've seen vast stretches of shoreline totally destroyed, looking like a nuclear bomb landed. Lire davantage

According to Bird Studies Canada, “the proposed bag limit of 50 Double-crested Cormorants per day per hunter with no possession limit over a nine and a half month open season is exceptionally high, unsustainable, and without precedent under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act for its failure to a Lire davantage

As a sport fisherman I like to enjoy the scenery anytime I'm out fishing and when you come across whole islands that are dead or dying because of the cormorants sitting in the trees by the dozens or hundreds and their toxic waste kills everything below it really takes away from trying to enjoy your Lire davantage

I don't believe that this proposal will lead to any significant benefits to the people of Ontario and will lead to unregulated disposal of cormorant carcasses. Lire davantage

I would suggest lowering the limit for proposal #4: Establish a bag limit of 50 cormorants/day with no possession limit. That number is way too high and should be lowered a lot.

don't shoot birds. Will track you down and vote you out next election if even one bird is executed. Thanks for listening and protecting birds :)

Yes please allow this proposal to happen. The cormorants have destroyed islands of all trees and have wiped out pan fish and game fish drastically in the areas they inhabit. Please please allow this proposal to happen!!

No. I do not agree with this proposal. I am an OFAH member and sometimes get a bit ticked off with all the licensing for hunting and angling- BUT- I appreciate that it helps to ensure that we hunt and fish responsibly. Lire davantage

I oppose the proposed “cull” of cormorants. The lack of scientific evidence is troubling in of itself. I expect evidence based decisions to be made by my government. I am also very troubled by the lack of need to collect the carcasses. That’s a possible health hazard. Lire davantage

I wholeheartedly disagree with this proposal. The population of double breasted cormorants is not very large. With the proposal to allow hunting this bird the entire population may be wiped out within a few years. This would be tragic. Lire davantage

Humans have never been successful at much except eliminating whole populations or introducing invasive ones. This rings of a poorly thought out proposal by wealthy cottagers to keep their ideas of pristine landscape alive, but not well. Lire davantage

The proposed hunting season for Cormorant is unacceptable, ill conceived & not based on scientific research. It will also cause unacceptable collateral damage to other species. Please do not implement the hunt.
