I agree that it would be beneficial to the environment, lakes etc to open a hunting season on cormorants in Ontario. I agree a bag limit of 50 is reasonable until such time as the population has less detrimental impact on fish populations etc

I am totally in favour on a open season on cormorants there is just way too many around they eat to many fish and make a total mess of where ever they roost.

I fully support a cull on the cormorant population. They were "never" a migratory bird which was observed on our lake until recently. They have grown in numbers over the years and, by all accounts, are seriously affecting the fish population on our lake. Thank you.

As a lifelong resident of the Great Lakes region of Ontario I can say that it's only in the last 10 years that I have noticed an increase in Cormorants. Not an over abundance though. Lire davantage

Please enact this law. Cormorants are growing in dramatic numbers on Wolfe Lake in the Rideau group of lakes. These birds are starting to devistate the local sports fishery and negatively impact both owner cottagers and renters all over the lake which has a history of excellent sport fishing. Lire davantage

There are small islands that I have been enjoying in Lake Superior near Batchawana Island, called the flower pot islands since I was a child and one is barely noticeable from shore because of the cormorants. Lire davantage

This is policy that does not make sense from a wildlife perspective. The numbers are much too high. The Ontario Government should not allow for the hunting of such large numbers of cormorants. There must be a better way. It seems poorly conceived and not truly based on science.

I agree with the proposal. The bird in question is not only destroying our trees but is also responsible for the displacement of many other waterfowl that are native to Ontario and therefore deserve to be protected. Lire davantage

Allow the hunting of these birds. Not only are they destroying Toronto, they impact northern ontarios fisheries. I have seen it first hand over the last 10 years. Populations double every year and our beautiful canadian shield ecosystems are becoming dump sites.

Firstly Cormorants are an invasive species. That being said they are destroying islands in Muskoka as well as urban parks such as in Toronto. Lire davantage

Cormorants currently coexist in our natural waterways having minimal impact on humans and our survival. Allowing hunting on these waterways where people enjoy leisure and the outdoors can only create an undesirable consequences including safety concerns. Lire davantage

For the past 7 years the entire small fish population below our docks have disappeared at our cottage near parry sound in georgian bay. Under our docks for over twenty years we have had large populations of perch, rock bass, sunfish and minnows. Lire davantage

I personally have not heard an argument as to why these birds should even be allowed to prosper. They don't serve any purpose in the ecosystem from what I can see. All the areas that they eventually move to, inhabitants and nest in turn to wasteland. Lire davantage

I disagree with the proposed open hunting of Double-crested cormorants. This will not protect fish. These birds are not edible, killing them is not hunting, it is slaughter.

Using Hunters and Trappers as a resource for the Ministry just makes financial sense. In this day of underfunded ministries we must utilize the resources at our disposal to help create more action on important issues. Lire davantage
