I firmly reject the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s proposal to allow new licenses and the transfer of licenses for train and trial areas in Ontario. Penned dog hunting facilities are cruel to the wild animals that are subjected to various methods used to train dogs to hunt. Lire davantage

I am absolutely horrified to read that Ontario is considering the reopening of penned hunting areas that were banned 25 years ago!! This is not only barbaric, it’s completely out of sync with the times and ill-advised. Lire davantage

Animals must not be kept captive unnecessarily. Hunting dogs can be trained during hunts in the wild. No new train and trial pen facilities should be opened.

Hello all, I’ve tried my best to read up on this and the lobby group that helped bring this bill forward. Lire davantage

I firmly am against this. This is inhuman & animal cruelty. To trap animals, hurt them and allow them to be tracked & killed by dogs is outrageous. People are charged regularly for abusing their pets but it’s ok for the Government to allow facilities like this to operate blows my mind. Lire davantage

The practice of hunting penned animals is so absurd as to make it laughable if it wasn’t so cruel. It’s like the old “shooting fish in a barrel” line….it takes a real sportsman to “hunt” a penned animal……you can’t miss! Not only is it a barbaric pastime, it makes the “hunters” look like fools. I do not support this bill.it is cruel and backwards thinking.have we not progressed to environmental stewards, animal rights- advocacy.? In this day and age to create sport for the purpose of killing another living being for fun is disgusting. Please do not progress with this bill

What an absolutely abhorrent idea. Not good for the wildlife or the domesticated animals or the humans. This is a program which should not exist anywhere.

You were heading in the right direction back in 1997 for working towards shutting this down! NO we should NOT be continuing to protect this cruel practice. Wildlife should not be caged & held in an enclosure for dogs to chase & kill for sport training. Shut it down!!!

This has to be the most barbaric proposal I have ever seen the Ontario government come up with. I thought we were better than this. Dog hunting for sport is the kind of activity I'd expect to see in the American south or in some third world country. Please reconsider.

Don’t do this!!! The ecological chain is already fragile. Man interfering with nature never ends well. I don’t even know WHY Ford thought this was for the betterment of Ontario. In ANY way.

• Wildlife should never be taken from their natural environments and held captive by hunters. It’s especially cruel to use rabbits, coyotes, and foxes as pawns for hunters to train dogs and hold competitions. Lire davantage

How are these hunting pens training domestic dogs the difference between attacking a coyote/fox vs attacking another dog? Once a dog attacks another dog, it generally continues to do so. Lire davantage

Besides, the inhumane cruelty of this proposal, it is also incredibly dangerous. Anyone who has encountered a coyote with their dog knows that the dog can be badly hurt and killed. In addition, avian, flu is a growing concern among fox and coyote populations in Ontario. Lire davantage

ERO# 019-3685 The dog train and trial practices are cruel to wildlife and should be banned. There is no need to transfer licenses and allow new issuances of licenses. I am completely against this proposal. Thank you for your consideration of this opinion.
