The Greenbelt of Ontario is a proven necessity in these days of extreme population growth, and its ensuing living space, which should be contained near public transportation, where jobs are located, and where shopping areas are located. Lire davantage

This proposal is without merit and is simply backpedaling by the Premier, along with housing minister Steve Clark, who previously said that he would not touch the Greenbelt. Lire davantage

Sprawl is unsustainable. The greenbelt is a common resource for all. Our drinking water and natural environment are not to be handed as political rewards. No trading of lands, no reduction in the greenbelt and no expansion of municipal boundaries. Lire davantage

Replacing the Green Belt with lands that are already protected through other policies is not in fact replacing the Green Belt. It is removing protected green space by simply reframing how pieces of land are classified/regulated through policy and ending up with less land protected. Lire davantage

This proposal makes me so viciously angry. There is a reason this is a greenbelt. It is not for nothing. If you allow Ford to go back on the Greenbelt plan then where does it stop? What prevents him from building more and more until the Greenbelt is none existant? Lire davantage

Removing greenbelt protections will cost the province millions of dollars. These proposed areas provide natural protection from flooding and stormwater. And they do it for free. Removal of these protections puts nearby homes and businesses at risk of serious damage due to flooding. Lire davantage

Cities in Ontario are mostly comprised of single family houses, even in Toronto. We need to densify cities, allowing gentle densification in all residential neighbourhoods is the best way forward. Why would you support sprawling and a development model that has proved to be non-sustainable? Lire davantage

This is an extreme betrayal of public trust. The greenbelt is a provincial and national Park. To erode it and destroy it is absolutely unacceptable. We need to seek intensification for many reasons mainly it reduces the tax burden on taxpayers. Lire davantage

Doug Ford and his Cronies set out to make life even more awful, hopeless and futureless for millions of Ontarians. He would rather trample on our livelihood for a quick buck than think of an actually creative solution to housing. If he really cared about Ontarians and their housing he would Lire davantage

I am opposed to any removal of greenbelt lands to expand development, even with proposed additions. This is a misleading proposal, as the additional lands were already committed to prior to the proposed removals, and is being misrepresented as a fair trade. Lire davantage

I am greatly concerned over the decision to build new homes and another highway in the "protected" Greenbelt. It is for this very reason the land was protected in the first place and completely undermines conservation efforts. Lire davantage

I do not support any destruction of the green belt. I find it repulsive that the Ford government is considering destroying this land for housing development- the housing crisis did not happen overnight and destroying protected land is not the answer that will resolve this issue. Lire davantage

In 2022 we all know better than this and can even quantify the financial value of these vital natural ecosystem, which is long term value negating extensive health and extreme weather impacts, not short term profit for developers. Lire davantage

Opening any part of the greenbelt for development will increase sprawl (since it will be development by definition outside the city limits). It will increase greenhouse gas emissions because people will need to travel for work, shopping, etc. Lire davantage

This land was designated farm land for a reason. I understand that we need immigration and somewhere to house new Canadians, but if you take our farmland, home to some of the best soil in the world, how will we feed everyone. Lire davantage

The Greenbelt exists for a reason. It's not just a matter of "oh, it's nice to have some green space." It's protecting homes from flooding and ecosystems from collapsing. As climate catastrophe intensifies, protection of the Greenbelt becomes even more vital. Lire davantage

Ontario has to build A couple of million houses faster and less expensive to support growth. House supply crisis is a huge problem in GTA! Housing is human right! We support the release green belt for development!
