Viking is extremely important to myself and my family. My kids Cycle to school and obtain a modicum of freedom and independence through their bicycles. Children cannot drive. And removing bike lines, remove the freedom and mobility of young people which removes an avenue for growth and maturity. Lire davantage

I 100% agree with removing the bikelanes on main roads and the province playing a role in dictating where new ones are placed. Toronto lacks infrastructure for the current bike lanes and Toronto is becoming an unbearable city to get around. Lire davantage

Bill 212 is a significant overreach of provincial authority. This measure contradicts continuously demonstrated benefits of essential cycling infrastructure. Studies repeatedly show that bike lanes ease congestion, reduce emissions, and have positive impacts on local business. Lire davantage

Toronto has grown and the current infrastructure can’t accommodate the growing population. To remove a car lane when bikes can safely take side streets is irresponsible and not treating everyone fairly. Lire davantage

Please leave the bike lanes where they are, or add more. I have a bike and a car, and I travel on Bloor on workdays from Runnymede to St George. I bike when I can, but however I travel, more bikes and safe bike lanes make for a smoother commute for everyone. Bike lanes are not the problem. Lire davantage

Requiring municipalities to apply for provincial approval to add bicycle infrastructure is an egregious over reach of provincial jurisdiction. Lire davantage

There is significant research that shows that bike lanes reduce congestion and can be an incredibly effective way to move around a city. With the trending increase of e scooters, e bikes, this infrastructure is essential to effective and safe use of these alternatives to cars. Lire davantage

Municipalities are better suited to making decisions about local roads and bike lanes than the province. This will make putting in bike infrastructure (which is desperately needed in this province) even more difficult and burden governments with meaningless busy work. Lire davantage

I acknowledge and respect that municipalities are creatures of the province. However, I have significant concern regarding the proposal for the province to have the authority to approve the implementation of a bike lane, if it removes a lane of vehicle traffic. My concerns are: Lire davantage

Completely against this crazy proposal. 6 cyclists died in Toronto already. We need more bike lanes, not less

This is a ridiculous idea. We are in an era of dire climate change consequences; reducing bike lanes will not help us combat those negative consequences. Bikes will not disappear along with the bike lanes, rather they'll become part of the traffic. Lire davantage

I was a longtime cyclist in the city of Toronto and now mainly drive as I need the mobility for the service business I operate as well as running kids to various appointments in places that are not well served by transit. Lire davantage

I am opposed to this bill. Let municipalities decide what’s best for them. Bicycle lanes are important to me, among other reasons because I commute to work by bicycle year-round and I like to feel safe doing so. Lire davantage

Bike lanes help all traffic move. Any plan to remove bike lanes is a step backward and should not be considered.

Bike lanes are vital to our downtown core and getting people around safely and efficiently. We have loved our new bike lanes on Bloor, university, and Yonge and bike lanes are essential to freeing up gridlock and providing for businesses. Lire davantage
