Removing bike lanes without proposing viable alternatives is a shortsighted decision that puts cyclists and drivers at greater risk. For example, north of Bloor lacks a safe alternative to Yonge Street for cyclists traveling north-south. Read more

This is a ridiculous proposal. We should be moving on initiatives to reduce personal cars rather than removing bike lanes. Removing bike lanes will not improve traffic - it will make it harder for cars and bikes to share the roads which will lead to more collisions, which also increases gridlock. Read more

Hello there, I am adamantly opposed to the provincial government dictating what happens in a municipality when it comes to city planning. Why should someone in Brampton weigh in on the city planning in Toronto? Read more

I’m concerned about the environmental impact of this bill and its impact on the ability to achieve Toronto’s “TransformTO Net Zero Strategy” which has a goal that by 2030, 70% of work/school trips under 5 km will be walked, biked, or by transit. Read more

Charge a fee to enter the downtown core for non-residents. London does it, New York just adopted it. Cyclists are not going to disappear, they will be forced to bike in traffic which will result in more deaths and will not change gridlock in the slightest.

This is a bad decision. Many people use bikes on existing bike lanes, and removing bike lanes would never improve traffic congestion but rather worsen it. Also, who would benefit from this decision? Taking away space from bike users to single occupancy vehicles polluting our environment?

* Removing bike lanes: Cyclist want to go the most direct route and not through neighborhoods. They will still be on main routes BUT their lives will be endangered. Read more

I strongly oppose Bill 212, which would interfere with municipal government’s authority in planning our cities according to the needs of its residents. Bike lanes are essential to keeping cyclists safe, and active transportation should be a priority, given the urgency of climate change. Read more

it is worrying that Toronto seems to be moving backwards from progress. bike lanes ensure the safety not just of people on bicycles and other vehicles that use those lanes, but also ensures the safety of pedestrians. by removing bike lanes you are condemning people to death. Read more

Please don't get rid of bike lanes. A lot of people rely on biking to get around the city and for work. Traffic will increase because more people will be on the roads in cars rather than bikes. It's a waste of the city and province's money.

Everything about this bill goes against good governance and welfare for the people the government is meant to represent and take care of. Bicycles *ARE* traffic, they are much more efficient and climate-friendly, and they make cities much more pleasant to exist in. Read more
