This proposal is a disgrace. The endangered species act was not designed to impede development, it exists to protect the land, the environment and the species who support OUR HEALTH by protecting water supplies, the air we breath and the land we need for sustainable agriculture. Read more

The proposed change suggests that protected species that gets in the way of development projects will be removed from the list of protected species. We owe more to the environment we live in and have stewardship over. Read more

Please do not make the proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act. The changes allow political interference in the scientific process of maintaining the Endangered Species list. Read more

This is a disgusting waste of time and taxpayers money. At a time where environments protections are needed more than ever this government wishes to get rid of them. For shame! Read more

I strongly oppose this new legislation, which not only dismantles essential protections for endangered wildlife and ecosystems, but also disregards the rights and sovereignty of Indigenous communities. This bill represents a profound failure of responsible governance. Read more

I question, in particular, the change in phrasing from "habitat" to "dwelling place." The term "dwelling place" seems to specify that only animals currently living in the space will be spared. "Habitat" is derided in the proposal for being too broad. Read more

This is a horrible idea. We need to preserve our native species, and reducing their habitat to where they sleep not only allows for a lot more damage to their full habitat (as in, what they need to live) but removes protections for migratory birds. Read more

Do not get rid of this; species need to be protected. We know there's a housing crisis but all this would do is cause a habitat crisis for endangered and at risk animals and plants. We don't want the endangered species act to get gutted, this is not what Ontario represents. We can coexist.

I am opposed to this change. If species at risk are destroyed, we will never get them back and no building is worth that cost. We should be trying to find ways to live in harmony with the natural world, not destroy it for a short term benefit.

This bill puts corporate profits over people and ecosystems, cutting core protections, eliminating habitat safeguards, and will undoubtedly cause irreversible harm to Ontario’s endangered species. This shortsighted bill will have long term health and environmental consequences for Ontarians.

London Ontario is home to many listed on the Endangered and at Risk species list . The bright idea to remove such an act will further put wildlife and humans at risk. Read more

The Act is critical to conserve species, their habitats, and thus the ecosystem that people all rely on for a health planet to survive. Changing or even worst removing the act is an insult to all the people Canada who take pride to protect their lands. Read more

This does not sound like preservation, this appears to lift regulations for the purpose of developing protected areas. We should not be going backwards in preservation efforts for endangered species. Shameful proposal.

I strongly object to this proposal which supports developers and contributes to the destruction of the habitat of many wildlife species. Stop the destruction of our environment!

I am an Ontario citizen and I deeply oppose this act. It's true purpose is not to make the development process easier, but rather to make urban sprawl unaccountable and unimpeded by ANY conservation efforts of any kind. Their narrow definition of habitats for endangered species is very concerning. Read more

Pros: • Maintains COSSARO’s Role: • Science-based assessments for species status continue, which is a crucial safeguard to ensure listings are not purely politically motivated. • Increased Funding: Read more
