Most modern landfill and waste processing sites in Ontario are located well away from population centres for obvious reasons—air quality, noise, truck traffic, and safety. Why is Dresden being treated differently? Read more

Ontario’s own planning and environmental standards have historically required that landfill and large waste processing facilities be set back a reasonable distance from residential communities. Read more

Dresden is a living, breathing town—not just a convenient place to expand industrial operations. People live here. Kids go to school here. Families go to the arena, walk their dogs, and play soccer here. Read more

I have lived in the Dresden area my whole whole life. Third generation farmer! Forth generation working with me now. My land base is in very close proximity to this proposed landfill and would directly effect my vegetable production in many ways. Read more

What Ford is proposing with Bill 5 is unconstitutional and extremely dangerous to municipal and Indigenous communities and the environmental stewardship. No bill should ever be passed, under any conditions, that allows for the doing away of environmental assessments. Read more

I am deeply concerned about the proposal to develop/enlarge the retired landfill north of Dresden ON. It's proximity to Dresden is a huge concern. The noise and smell of a landfill should never be that close to a town. Read more

This proposal is absolutely insane. To risk compromising the integrity of our beautiful community of Dresden. A rural community rooted with small town morals and values . Centuries of raising generations of family’s. Aspiring to leave legacy farms and small businesses to the next generation. Read more

There has to be a better plan for the property near the town of Dresden than a waste landfill. To name a few reasons: It is too close to the town, the cemetery, and to Molly's Creek that drains into the Sydenham River. Read more

Without an environmental assessment a project would be allowed to begin that could seriously damage the ecosystem in not only Dresden, but the surrounding community of Chatham kent. The EA process needs to be completed !

Locating a landfill so close to a town against its will is not only impractical—it’s unethical. Forcing a community to bear the burden of regional waste disposal without its consent is a form of environmental injustice. Read more

Residents of a town have the right to protect their quality of life and local environment. A landfill within 900 meters introduces noise, air pollution, and foul odors that can severely disrupt daily life. Read more

Public health is another serious concern for towns near landfills. Airborne contaminants, leachate seepage, and increased truck traffic all pose risks to community health. Children, seniors, and those with chronic illnesses are particularly vulnerable. Read more

I’m not sure if you are aware of how close the proposed dump would be to our community. 800 meters. The close proximity to town limits basically puts it in our back yard. The continuous noise of trucks traveling through and dumping waste. Read more
