I don’t agree with the proposal to prohibit vehicle lane reduction for bicycle paths. I drive a car but bicycles are a much more environmentally friendly way to travel. And cyclists are vulnerable if they are forced to share the same lanes as vehicle drivers. Read more

The continued war against bike lanes is very confusing to me. There is ample evidence that they improve traffic by getting people out of cars. There is ample evidence that they improve safety for all road users (not only cyclists). Read more

I am strongly opposed to any measures that will have the effect of reducing existing or future bike lanes. My entire family cycles to work and school in Ottawa, including in winter. It is our main mode of transportation. Read more

While the safety of all modes of traffic is important, removing car lanes to accommodate bikes, e-bikes and scooters is counterproductive. I live in the downtown area and have noted badly impeded car and truck traffic due to lane closures. Read more

I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed amendment to the Highway Traffic Act under Bill 60, which would prohibit municipalities from reducing vehicle lanes to install new bicycle lanes. Read more

Bill 60 gives the province the power to stop communities from building new bike or bus lanes that close a lane of car traffic, striping away another tool municipalities have to make neighbourhoods safer and more efficient for all road users. Read more

Bill 60 is not moving Ontario towards a modern transportation system. It is moving us back in time. For me to support it, you will need to refute all the research that states Bill 60 is not going to move us forward.

Re: Bicycle lanes.Bill 60 I’m in my 80’s and been riding a bike for many of those years. I make full use of bicycle lanes and it’s a real pleasure to be able to ride with little fear of being hit. Read more

I ride a bike for errands, as a volunteer delivering food to people in need, and for pleasure. This proposal is short sighted, dangerous for democracy and dangerous for people who use roads by means other than a motor vehicle. Read more

I am writing to you about my concerns for bill 60's stipulations targeting new bike lanes. Bike lanes represent choice and freedom - I am both a driver and a cyclist and use both types of transportation interchangeably. Read more

I drive and I bicycle around Toronto. As a driver, I much prefer when bikes are in bike lanes; bike lanes make it easier and faster to drive. As a cyclist, bike lanes keep me safe. They also keep my special needs son safe. My adult son has a cognitive disability. Read more

It strips cities of local authority and decision-making, even when projects are supported by evidence and local residents. The ontario premier needs to stop meddling in city business and allow majors to do their job!! Read more

This is a very bad idea. The whole point of municipalities is that they deliver local services because they are the on-the-ground arm of the province, who should be too preoccupied with larger matters. AMO said it better than I ever can, so in case you haven’t read it: Read more
