Asbestos processigg by had major health implications for the residents of ward 3. There is no safe amount of asbestos entering our air. We cannot allow this in our ward. We can’t rely on a company to tell us this will be dealt with safely. If something slips we’re adding major risk. Read more

The access route for this facility (Gage street) is already a terrible road with significant pot holes and train tracks which pose a hazard to the residents. The increased heavy truck traffic will further diminish the quality of the road. Read more

I am saying a strong no to the proposal of enlarging this site. Absolutely not. Move it out of city limits. We live and breathe and work and raise our children here. I have enough health and breathing problems. NO... NO... NO. Read more

Absolutely not. There are many young families and seniors in this area. This process could have long lasting and devastating impacts on the health of residents in the area. To say nothing of the proximity to Gage Park, Hamilton Stadium, and a number of elementary and high schools in the area.

This is unacceptable so close to a neighborhood already experiencing various systemic issues involving health related issues. The community already bears the burden of nearby steel factories, additional processing plants will be harmful to the health of residents and wild life.

While I recognize the need for facilities to dispose of the waste generated by legitimate activities, what is being done to mitigate the airborne dispersal of asbestos dust? This concerns me as someone who lives in East Hamilton. Thank you for taking my concern seriously. Read more

Ward 3/4 are the number 1 documented areas for cancer in the Hamilton area. Now, you want to release more airborne particles in the air. The MOE has been called several times due to pollution, with nothing being resolved. Why not put it in Ancaster?

As a resident of Ward 3, I disagree with this proposal. We already have enough industry creating pollutants with our air, we don’t need to worry about Asbestos being in our air. If this is passed, I will be looking to move - I don’t want to hinder my health and the health of my family. Read more

I’m OPPOSED to this proposal. I live in ward 3 with my family. I have 2 boys, ages 4 and 3 months. The risk of asbestos exposure is far too great for our family and so many others in the area. This could affect real estate as people will not want to live near such toxic materials. Read more

I am submitting this comment as someone who lives near York1’s Lottridge Street facility and has experienced firsthand how poorly this company manages its operations and how destructive it has been to our neighbourhood’s welfare. For years, we have dealt with constant dust, noise, and disruption. Read more

I am not in favour of the York1 Gage Transfer Ltd. expanding its waste processing operations at their Gage Ave. facility to include the handling of construction, demolition, and asbestos waste, as well as excess soil. This is too close to a residential area, especially the handling of asbestos. Read more
