Stupid is as stupid does... you want bears in your backyard, this is how you get bears in your backyard... if the premier was any smarter we'd be better able to determine the rock he crawled out from...

30m is much too close to the roadway for hunters to be placing bait. This is a ridiculous proposal and for what benefit? So hunters can use more land to kill bears at the detriment of public safety? Keep them away from the road and public areas.

Only the Ford Government after screaming like a little child about the previous government and their tactics, come in look at the province and with the same breath that they take away funding for schools, health and people, look at something like beer and bears and go “this ain’t right”. Read more

Absolutely against this dangerous change. People use the trails with their families, babies, pets and you want to place bear bait nearby!? I mean have you ever seen a bear close up - it is dangerous if you're not armed with anything. Read more

Moving the black bear bait placement limit from from rights of way and trails from 200m to 30m seems extreme. This is just 100 ft from public trails! Do you really want bears to come within 100 ft of public trails, where people walk with their families and dogs? Is that really safe? Read more

This proposal clearly increases danger to the public, so that hunting is easier. Not a good trade-off. It brings bears and people shooting guns much closer to many many taxpayers, while easing the lives of a few hunters. We should be working to ban bear traps.

I am a black bear hunter, and I do support this proposal to reduce minimum distance of bait placement to 30 m from rights of way and trails. I can see, that this can bee seen as a safety issue or a hazard. But here are couple of thoughts on this issue. Read more

I fully support this proposal, the current distance is too great and not needed. Bear baiting is the best way to hunt bears and be able to confirm the gender and if there are cubs with the bear.

I don't agree to the proposed changes. Leave the road and trail setback at 200m. All bear hunters and baiters who are not disabled should be able to manage this distance. Read more

Reducing the minimum distance from roadways will increase safety. Many times I have slipped/tripped entering the bush with heavy loads. I have not yet experienced serious injury, but, I can see it happening. Read more
