I strongly believe that we should be doing everything possible to plant and grow our forests substantially every year. Any forestry plan needs to include a costed, funded, and implementable plan to put more trees in annually than we take out. Read more

the Ontario Woodlot Association (OWA) is very important to private woodlot owners like myself. It would be helpful if the Government of Ontario funded some of the costs and made it mandatory for private woodlot owners who are Managed Forest members to belong to OWA. Read more

The strategy uses the word "sustainability" throughout yet the section on Sustainable Forest Management says nothing about improving, supporting, or even maintaining the systems put in place to achieve sustainable forest management. Read more

Canada's and Ontario's boreal forest is essential in its natural state for our survival and the survival of wildlife species. We have seen the devastating fires in California and BC, in the Amazon and Australia. Human intrusion decimates and eventually destroys forests and wildlife. Read more

The small acreage people need support from goverment in the way of funds so the large companys will thin etc your forest for you.If you have to do your thinning yourself and leave the trees to rot on the ground you are adding carbon to the air.

I encourage the aim of supporting harvesting on private land (p.20). Private woodlots are close to the markets for lumber, so carbon emissions are reduced. The Ontario Woodlot Association's members are involved in sustainable management of their woodlots, so could contribute to this aim. Read more
