I write as a practicing Master Class Falconer for over 53 years, who resides in the Central United States. I applaud your desire for evidence based regulations governing and protecting your natural resources. I spent over 23 summers in Ontario enjoying your abundant fishing and wildlife. Read more

While I'm not a falconer myself, I have met and known several falconers over my lifetime. I believe this is one of the greatest outdoor experiences one can have. It amazes me how a bird of prey will work with man in this way. Read more

I support this proposal because wild take authorizations can only be accessed by licensed falconers and I believe this encourages more Ontario falconers to obtain their license through sponsorship vs buying a non-indigenous species.

I am a retired resident of Ontario. and a bird enthusiast. A close friend of mine is a falconer and has explained the ministry’s proposal for amending the wild take process. I would like to see these changes go into effect, as these changes all seem positive to me, for the falconer and for the bird.

To whom this may concern, I have been involved in falconry and the sport since 2011. Falconry is a lifestyle and not a hobby. I was lucky enough to have been awarded the wild take some years back. Read more

Because there is a well-established population of all the allowable birds under the live capture authorization, and it will have no impact on their numbers, I support this proposal. I’m a birder not a falconer but have falconer friends who help with bird banding and are very big into conservation.

Falconers not only should be allowed to capture, but should be able to help train and teach a falcon how to live. They are key to help the survival of these birds. I hope the mnrf will loosen the regulations so more falcons can be saved

I think this proposal is fantastic. My Aunt happens to be a practicing falconer in Ontario, and the allowance of one live capture wild raptor a year would greatly benefit her understanding and work with these birds. Read more

I have read the new proposal, and I support the new changes. 25 permits from the old regulations were not sufficient as many apprentices had to wait many years to get a permit from the limited pool of apprentice permits. Read more

As a falconer I’ve been all over the USA to hunt at field meets and many states have a limitless harvest for wild raptors as falconry birds ie. licensed falconers just apply for their permit, trap and are able to release if needed, no Read more

Falconers have played an important role in raptor conservation and by allowing more falconers to have access to wild birds, the MNRF is encouraging more active conservation and citizen science. I support this purposal

I would like to thank the MNRF for this new proposal it is a great idea and I fully support it. I have been a die hard practicing falconer for the last 20 years and have enjoyed access to passage raptors since 2012. Thank you!

I support this proposal. I am a licensed falconer who is very passionate about the sport and that the sport be practiced ethically and legally. The take of wild raptors for falconry has a neutral or positive effect on wild populations. Read more
