The proposal is a good first step, but the roll out is too long. 2026 as the deadline for some of the key components? That's 5 years of plastic pollution build up. As well, the proposal lacks any mention of Styrofoam recycling and similar single use packaging. Read more

If there are deposits on any recyclable items, there will be less garbage and more people will be recycling whether they like it or not. When it hits their pocket, they will recycle.

Is it possible to include a directive requiring bottled drink companies to tether the caps to the bottles? Wildlife (birds, turtles, etc.) see these caps as food - unfortunately, it kills them!

This is a good first step, but a 2026 deadline is way too long and we need to be more proactive. The world is not going to wait for you to sort out a bunch of meaningless consultations. We need action yesterday, so the next best time is today. Read more

We are a campground and currently pay to have our recycling picked up.I know that many people here do not recycle while camping.Because of the pandemic we did not try to sort out recycling form garbage bins this summer.I would like to see businesses included in this new proposal.

Please ensure to take comments from environmental groups to ensure changes to the recycling system contribute to a cleaner environment and does not create additional issues (such as companies disposing of “recyclables” in unsafe ways). Read more

Incentive should be given to businesses that deposit return system such as carried out by The Beer Store. Circle K does a fine job with milk jug deposits and we once had a great system of bottle deposit for the soda pop industry. At one time Becker's had returnable, reusable milk jugs. Read more
