I strongly oppose the proposed changes. The province approach to hammer down MZOs negates the input of residents and our elected officials. Read more

MZOs have been repeatedly used by the Province to bypass the input of residents, their elected municipal officials, and municipal planners. These are the peoples whose views and voices matter, and should guide policy and planning in the urban environment. Read more

Please do not approve this bill. Giving the Ontario (Ford) government enhanced authority to address certain matters as part of a zoning order would be a travesty. Read more

The proposed changes to the provisions in the Planning Act that alter the authority of the Minister are seemingly loaded with potential to grant enough power to reduce protection for many heritage buildings in Ontario. Read more

I object to changes to certain legislative provisions in the Planning Act now in force with the enactment of Bill 197, the COVID-19 Economic Recovery Act, 2020 that enable the Minister to address site plan matters and apply inclusionary zoning as part of a zoning order. Read more

Communities must be allowed to make their own decisions about land use and planning and not find themselves overruled by the Provincial minister. This bill is about letting developers run rampant in our cities and towns and disregard the needs and rights of those who live there.

This proposal is very disappointing. The procedures are in place to ensure responsible practices. What the government is proposing seems designed for cronyism, giving friends of the Conservative Party development contracts. It is not designed to assist or benefit the people of Ontario. Read more

I strongly disagree with the proposed expansion of provincial powers with respect to zoning. The benefits of decentralization are becoming more clear with each passing year. This proposal to centralize decision-making is a mistake. Read more

Local municipalities should have a strong voice in determining land use planning and heritage designations in particular. Unilateral decisions at a distance from those affected by the decisions will create unsightly and destructive uses of land and make long term planning impossible. Read more

I think this is undermining and enhanced authority should NOT be allowed. The minister needs to follow the proper protocols in place to address all environmental, social, and other issues.
