This is a great idea. Much appreciated. Instead of devoting the lands for industrial or residential development, it is welcome that we have initiated this. I welcome this proposal. Remember the quote "We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; We borrow it from our children."

Since I retired in 2003 and as I have aged, my travels throughout Ontario have diminished significantly so that now, when I do travel, I am dismayed by the signs of urbanization, suburban sprawl and "wretched excess" visible in the expansion of commercial real estate development and malls. 1. What are your thoughts on the initial focus area of the Study Area of the Paris Galt Moraine? Based on past Provincial mapping of the Paris Galt Moraine, the initial focus area appears to provide adequate coverage, particularly to the north which is currently unprotected by the Greenbelt. Expanding the Greenbelt in the GTA is crucial for helping to improve air quality by not allowing more development within protected areas, planting more trees, allowing the public to access expanded hiking trails, conserving biodiversity and protecting threatened and endangered species. Read more

I am a volunteer who helps clear and maintain trails on my own time in Toronto Conservation Authority Lands in Durham Region. If it weren’t for many volunteer hours these forests would be a mess, perhaps safe for protecting our drinking water sources but for human recreational access dangerous. Read more
