The use of Minister's Zoning Orders has gotten out of hand. The backlash from the Duffins Creek Wetland debacle is evidence that these orders are being abused. Our representatives in the Ontario government should work to protect individual Ontarians, not corporate lobbyists.

We don't want this. I strongly disagree with this policy. This Bill proposes to sidestep community consultation and local planning processes.

Farmland needs protection. Ontario proved itself to be vulnerable and not have the capacity to be self-reliant during COVID. Our farmland helps to literally sustain its population. Threaten that, and you threaten the lives & livelihoods of all Ontarians. Green space is our resilience.
Schedule 3 needs removal from Bill 257 to prevent Minister's Zoning Orders (MZOs) from overriding legal and policy protections for farmland and natural heritage features and areas across Ontario

The misuse of MZOs is yet another attack on democracy by the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario. Their tired mantra of "For the People" is cover for pandering to corporate interests while silencing the public.

I strongly oppose proposed changes to the Planning Act that would allow Minister’s Zoning Orders (MZOs) to override protections for Ontario’s farmland and significant natural areas.

I strongly believe that Schedule 3 of Bill 257, an amendment to the Planning Act, undermines the rights of the citizens of Ontario to have a say in how our land is used and more importantly protected.

Buried in Bill 257, Supporting Broadband and Infrastructure Expansion Act, 2021, is a proposal to allow Minister's Zoning Orders (MZOs) to override legal and policy protections for farmland and natural heritage features and areas across Ontario.

Remove MZO's from Bill 257. Environmental protections of all kind should be paramount and first consideration in any and all proposed changes to land use.
THANK YOU
RE: ERO # 019-3233
I strongly oppose the proposed changes to Minister's Zoning Orders and the Planning Act. Such changes would allow the Minister to make unilateral decisions without public consultation.
In an era of heightened awareness of health and its connection to environmental exploitation, I am incredibly disappointed that protections are being so cavalierly sidestepped.

I respectfully request that the Government initiative to exempt MZOs from legal and policy restrictions on farmland and natural areas in Bill 257 be removed from the bill.

I'm very upset at the proposal to allow MZOs that fail to allow the process of local community consultation and that do not respect the expertise and consideration of all environmental aspects associated with development.

This is the Ford government's most blatant attack on participatory democracy to date. How can a so-called government For the People justify the creation of legal loopholes to undermine local governments elected by communities to represent their interests? It can't.

The MZO in general is a terrible thing. This circumvents policies and municipality decisions, and is completely undemocratic. Our levels of government are elected to represent the people, and the MZO overrides this.

Bypassing consultation and planning processes is just the latest in a trend of extremely disturbing moves set in motion by our government in an attempt to undermine the science which protects our environment, natural legacy, and ability to proceed as a prosperous, beautiful, and natural resource ric
