I support this proposal - especially the part that holds onto the eventual ability to prevent a person from purchasing a licence if they are a continuous bad actor. Its important for us hunters to complete these reports - our way of helping out. I'd suggest a $20 fee. Thank you.

I dont agree with compulsory reporting. MNR staff are not conducting field surveys and are relying on computer programes and hunter reports rather than actually studying and researching wildlife populations in the field. Read more

I have been a responsible hunter for over 47 years. I have passed these traits to my son who is also responsible. The mandatory reporting is a great idea for hunting and hunters to monitor the population of hunted species. However, taxing hunter for not reporting is rediculous. Read more

I am a longtime resident hunter and appreciate the need for reporting harvest. I do not however support the implementation of this administrative penalty for failing to report. The information states there is already 84 % compliance. That is a tremendous response already. Read more

This is a very dumb idea. I am completely against it. I always submit mine each year but I know some people forget to do it, so to impose an automatic penalty is unfair and probably illegal. What next automatic fines for late drivers license, plates, etc???? Read more

My comment is based on experience in working in for Enforcement branch for over 30 years. WMU 48, 65 and a few others have a fine established for failing to submit a Mandatory questionnaire. This has not worked in increasing compliance. Human nature is what it is and hunters forget. Read more

This does not sound like a legal process, as set up in the regulations! It looks like a way to get around the public’s due process. There is a ticket to be issued for failing to submit! It is a law! A COURT PROCESS FOLLOWS THAT, Read more

Online submissions are not fail proof. In our home, family members that hunt together, remind and complete the hunt reports at the same time. I’m the past, while completing, two members received a confirmation of submission of the report. Read more

It is my understanding that the current compliance rate is above 80%. This volume of data should be more than sufficient to determine herd sizes and trends. There is no real need to raise the volume of data except to raise more $$$ and punish otherwise good outdoors people. Read more

I believe a far more effective route to increasing mandatory hunter reporting is to ensure that your email reminders work. I am signed up for all reminders on the MNR/MNFR website and have not received a single email reminding me to report. Make it simple to report. Read more
