I oppose the proposal to limit affordable units to 5% of the total number of units in buildings erected near protected major transit station areas. I also oppose the limiting of the timeframe for which these units must be affordable to 25 years. Read more

To date inclusionary zoning and the community planning permit system have not been widely used in Ontario. It would be helpful to have additional guidance in how to implement the community planning permit system. There is no background documentation on how the 5% threshold was set. Why only 5%? Read more

The Province’s proposed cap on affordable units precludes the ability of the City to establish a “made-in-Pickering” approach that would be the result of the detailed analysis expected from the Assessment Report currently being prepared by the Regional Municipality of Durham. Read more
