The More Homes Built Faster Act claims to build 1.5 million homes in the next 10 years. However, none of this housing is going to be affordable. In fact, the legislation drastically weakens the potential of the cities to build any new affordable housing. Read more

I believe there should not be a cap on affordable housing and each municipality should decide what is needed by working with the development community to get the best result for affordable housing including the length of time a development is deemed affordable..

Establishing an upper limit of affordable housing at 5% of homes within an area is not enough. There needs to be more affordable housing. Isn't that the whole point of this bill? So that people can afford to live in Ontario? Read more

Renters living in purpose-built rentals are more at risk of being evicted. The government is giving itself permission to ban and restrict city rules that requires developers to return a tenant to their rent-controlled apartment after construction of the new bigger condo is complete. Read more
