I oppose the proposal to limit affordable units to 5% of the total number of units in buildings erected near protected major transit station areas. I also oppose the limiting of the timeframe for which these units must be affordable to 25 years. Lire davantage

The facts are well known about the extent of the housing crisis in Ontario. Each year in Ontario, 20,000 existing affordable units are lost. In cities like Ottawa it has been estimated that for every 1 unit built 7 are lost. Lire davantage

To date inclusionary zoning and the community planning permit system have not been widely used in Ontario. It would be helpful to have additional guidance in how to implement the community planning permit system. There is no background documentation on how the 5% threshold was set. Why only 5%?
