This is completely unacceptable. You cannot remove land from the Greenbelt and just 'add' more to it elsewhere. That's not how this works. The land in the Greenbelt is protected because it is critically important arable land or land supporting vulnerable ecosystems. Read more

This is abhorrent! Ford is going back on his promise. The Greenbelt is a flourishing ecosystem, not to mention the most arable land in Ontario. It is also a vital part of our watershed. This kind of land cannot be easily replaced or substituted for other land. Read more

The proposed amendments to the Greenbelt plan are completely unacceptable. What Ontario needs is greater protection for our precious natural spaces. Many of the areas that the Ontario government is suggesting could be swapped are already protected. Read more

The Greenbelt was carefully architected and contains complex ecosystems. You can't just "swap land." Also, municipalities just submitted their growth plans that accommodates growth up until 2051. There is no reason to be touching the Greenbelt. This will not help build more homes faster. Read more

It is no secret that the Earth is heading towards extreme warming and Ontario is already seeing the results in prolonged heat waves, intense storms, and flooding. I would expect the provincial government to do everything in their power to not worsen the disastrous effects of climate change. Read more

The Ford government never fails to disappoint with its self-serving, short-sighted agenda on seemingly ever front. LEAVE THE GREENBELT ALONE! You clearly have no critical understanding of this issue and your ignorance is frankly devastating. HANDS OFF!

I am very concerned about the removal of the greenbelt. As an environmental scientist and someone who struggles with housing affordability, I simply cannot agree that the only way to improve the housing crisis is to destroy environmental and agricultural assets. Read more
