Many references have been made to camping on water and houseboats. I am confused where power boats and sailboats that are bigger and have accommodations for overnight stays fall in your proposal. I understand that there have been structures built on the water with questionable placements. Read more

This is a terrible, dangerous idea. Bu all means, restrict the amount of time people can stay at an anchorage, but the 300m requirement would eliminate every single safe anchorage on Lake Ontario that I am aware of just in order to satisfy some rich cottagers. Read more

This proposal will have a profound effect on boat owners who enjoy cruising the Great Lakes and other popular cruising grounds in Ontario by greatly restricting the number of anchorages available. Read more

While I agree that long stays at one location are detrimental to ecological sustainability, I do not see how anchoring within 300 meters of a developed shoreline affects anything except for the sight-lines of a cottage owner. Read more

please don’t over regulate boating. It is not camping. Boating is our heritage and waterways are our rightful assets. 300 meters from development is nonsense. This amendment favours rich land owners. Read more

I do understand that land owners do not want someone anchored near their cottage or home. But 300m is to long of a distance. This would eliminate most anchorages on smaller bodies of water and a great number on the great lakes and Georgian Bay. Read more

In view of the 300 meter proposed addition. As a frequent boater on Georgian bay it would be a worthy add to propose excluding designated anchorages from this regulation. Example. Cottages that are placed within that 300 meters of a designated anchorage. Read more

I am a cottager on Georgian Bay. The proposed changes to anchoring laws are uneeded, harmful, and oppressive. This is a solution looking for a problem. Read more

I am against this change, our family has been boating for many years and have always respected the water and homeowners/landowners spaces. All the boaters I have ever know have been respectful and ensure they don’t pollute our waterways. Read more

I think Ontario has way more then enough red tape in place. Boating and “boat camping” is one of the last peaceful “getaways” left to do in ontario without having to pay some sort of fee or obtain a permit etc. People have been camping on the water for hundreds of years without concern. Read more

With regard to the seven day stay, you should ad a weather clause, it may not be possible to move a vessel if the weather is unsuitable for that vessel to move. Read more

The proposal of no overnight anchoring "close to home / marina" brings me so much sadness and heartache. My family lives for the boating season, as that is the only vacation time we can get (weekends away) 1 hour from home, due to the nature of our work. Read more

I've reviewed the proposed changes and while I support the overall intent, one proposed change is in my view discriminatory and effectively acts to privatize the water the the sole benefit of private cottage owners while preventing its use by others. Read more
