This is a terrible idea. The planet is literally on fire, we live in a time where we need MORE environmental protections not less. Based on the track record of the Ford government, this feels like something that would benefit developers only.

I am opposed to this. There are good reasons based on science fact and democracy that these activities were regulated. If this proposal passes - the Improper management of wastewater and storm water has the potential to cause serious impacts to human and environmental health. Read more

The public should be consulted and must formally be included in the application process for stormwater management systems. The Conservation Authorities of Ontario should be involved in the planning and oversight of stormwater management in sensitive areas where it previously has had jurisdiction. Read more

The portion of the proposal which looks to make additional amendments to Ontario Regulation 525/98 made under the Ontario Water Resources Act is of particular interest. The exemptions which are in place for LIDs on residential lots are appropriate given the small drainage areas and low risk. Read more

I am concerned about the loss of public participation. The highest standards should be in place due to the risk of contamination impacting human health. I believe that removing O Reg 287/07 could be harmful to the environment and public health. Source water protection should be protected.

I disagree with this change. Environmental protections are in place for a reason and streamlining the process opens the door for projects to be pushed through approval processes that disregard necessary environmental protections. Read more

This government lacks oversight and cutting a lot of corners for profit. There’s a reason we have standards and inspections for all commercial and residential projects. There should be no exceptions to the rule for fear all new projects will find a way to take advantage of the loophole.
