Please do not allow Ssonix Products to reopen. The Port Weller community is still deeply shaken by the loss of one of our community members during the explosion. Our condolences go to his family. We cannot afford to have another tragedy.

Keefer Rd site is not suited for storage of hazardous materials in any form. Spills could, and probably did, enter the creek which enters a residential area and eventually Lake Ontario. I live across the street from this creek. Read more

I am strongly opposed to the re-opening of Ssonix on Keefer Road. The above mentioned site is not suited at all to store hazardous materials. First of all this site should have never been approved as it is close to a residential area and other businesses. Read more

The area where Ssonix Products is located is in a business park that has light to medium industrial businesses. In no way could Ssonix Products be considered light or medium industrial when they are handling chemicals and hazardous materials. Read more

Absolutely shocked that after the negligent operation of the facility, resulting in us being shooken from our bed BEFORE we heard the explosion, that this operator-owner would have the audacity to even apply for a permit to move forward. Read more

As a resident of Port Weller East, I strongly disagree with SSonix being able to continue their operation in the current location. I have never heard of a cause of explosion being released where a life was lost and caused the evacuation of an entire community. Read more

I was appalled to understand that a hazardous waste facility was metres away from I live. This was the “worse kept secret”. Driving through the “soft core” industrial park shows little noise, pollution, etc. that would suggest any activity to be concerned about. Read more

My wife and I live less than 100 yards from the site of the explosion in January. This was by far one of the most traumatic events we have ever experienced and we have no desire to ever experience anything like that again. Not only do I not think Ssonix should be allowed to rebuild the facility. Read more

I hope you will consider not letting Ssonix Products 2010 Inc. reopen. Our area has been through enough including the death of Ryan Konkin. It is still very much on the minds of us who were evacuated that day. Read more

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, I AM DEEPLY CONCERNED THAT THE AUTHORITY IS CONSIDERING GIVING ANY APPROVAL TO SSONIX PRODUCTS 2010 INC. TO AGAIN OPEN THEIR FACILITY ON KEEFER ROAD ST. CATHARINES UNTIL ALL 84 CHARGES AGAINST THEM ARE ELIMINATED. I HAVE LIVED IN THE AREA FOR 33 YEARS , Read more

I am opposed to this proposal. With 84 charges outstanding I believe it is irresponsible to allow this company to again conduct a business handling hazardous materials before this matter has been resolved in the courts, particularly since a man died as a direct result of this fire. Read more
