Are Premier Ford's friends not rich enough already? The people that are incentivized to proceed with development should not be in charge of deciding whether or not endangered species will be negatively affected. This is following in the footsteps of the US, and we should be better here.

The Special Economic Zones Act (Schedule 9) would grant unprecedented powers to the Provincial Cabinet and could allow corporations or individuals to avoid any laws and by-laws in entire areas of Ontario. There are no limits, no rules, and no public input. This is not how democracy works. Read more

This bill is widely criticized and rightfully so. I'm deeply disheartened and disgusted to see the Ontario government so brazenly trying to take advantage of current crises (housing, tariffs, etc.) to suspend and bypass laws that exist to protect our people, our land, and our future. Read more

I am deeply opposed to the Special Economic Zones Act, 2025, ERO Number 025-0391. The act will remove the usual safeguards we have in place to protect the environment and it will remove the ability of local municipalities (the experts in their areas) to enforce planning. Read more

This bill will destroy ecosystems and land we won’t get back. If you can build what you want, wherever, as long as you have the money - we are sunk. Please do not let this happen to our province. Ford’s mandate is to resist Trump not to betray Ontario’s citizens. Read more

I disapprove of Bill 5 because I think it will damage the environment and as a young person, I have my future to think of. At the very least we need to amend the bill to make sure there is accountability for the government and the corporations, especially when it comes to Indigenous land.
