This is disgraceful! I do not support this bill or this move for the Ford government to find another way to destroy natural habitat in order to fill the pockets of developers they are friends with. It is essential that we protect the environment and endangered species.

Bill 5 ignores treaty rights and the Indigenous nations' right to have free, prior and informed consent. This is a set-back in our path to reconciliation. It gives discretionary power to cabinet ministers to create Special Economic Zones where laws by-laws and regulations do not apply. Read more

These changes are a huge step backwards for environmental policy in Ontario. Where the province holds jurisdictional authority over the vast majority of the land, the provincial government should be the first line of defense for our collective environment. Read more
