Almost the whole bill outlines how regulatory checks and balances can be bypassed by simply designating areas of economic interest. It doesn’t get more undemocratic than removing protections on public and indigenous resources to benefit the few who can afford to invest, develop, etc. Read more

Proposed Bill 5 is an extension of the last several years of slowly undermining the provincial ESA and now using the threat of tariffs, the Ford government is taking advantage of peoples concerns over the economy by essentially gutting whatever is left of the ESA. Read more
