I am writing to express my strong opposition to Bill 5, the "Protecting Ontario by Enabling Economic Growth Act, 2024". This legislation poses serious and far-reaching risks to Ontario’s environment, democratic processes, Indigenous rights, and long-term economic well-being. Read more

Which government members will stand up for the environment? Or, do you prefer to leave a legacy of having been people who helped destroy the planet? This unwanted spa is already a millstone around your necks and this will only make it heavier. It is utterly wrong.

I grew up in Ontario and worked for the ministry of natural resources in the late 80s through the mid 90s and in that time, myself and my coworkers and friends and all students of environment were proud of Ontario and Canada for taking the measures that we have to protect habitats and wildlife. I am deeply against what this bill stands for. Trying to "unleash the economy" for short-term gains while sidestepping the analyses needed to ensure that it doesn't inflect long-term problems is not responsible stewardship of the province. Read more

I do not support an exemption for the Ontario Place re-development project from requirements to post notices to the public on the environmental registry. Please do not degrade our democratic systems in this way. Please remove those clauses from the proposed Bill 5.
