The Province needs to streamline planning documents. The Niagara Escarpment Plan is a plan with policies and development standards. There is no zoning. Development permits need to meet the vision of the Plan. There is no need for both an Official Plan and Zoning By-Law. Both should be combined. Read more

I believe that municipalities should have the autonomy to make their own decisions regarding items within their jurisdiction. I do not appreciate authoritarian actions that trample the rights of other jurisdictions and would like to Province to concentrate on their own items.

It would make sense if policy as per the suggested topics/chapters is created as Provincial policy as part of the Provincial Planning Statement. That would leave municipal official plans as a set of map schedules only that calibrate land use designations to local geography. Read more

I strongly urge you to reconsider this proposal. The evidence has suggested over decades that when it comes to local development or acting in times of crisis, municipalities are at the forefront and best prepared to act in a tailored manner. Cities know what their residents need. Read more
