I disagree with the Provinces proposed consolidation of Ontario's conservation authorities. The Province claims that this consolidation would create efficiencies but they do not clarify what exactly those efficiencies would be. Read more

Bigger does not make better, local regional conservation authority has a much better grasp on what is happening in the local field that they look after. I do not trust a larger authority to be able to understand and communicate to the local district in this proposal.

I do not agree with the combining of the conservation areas. The local presence seems to have a better handle on what is needed and what is going on at each region. Making the areas larger to handle will increase concerns by lessening the “on the ground” support we have for our local region.

This proposal illustrates a complete lack of consideration and understanding for how removed Northwestern and Southern Ontario are from eachother. Northwestern Ontario needs it's own resources and more of them as far as environmental work goes. Read more

The present Board of Directors from each local municipality are politicians with little to no knowledge on Conservation. They rely most of the time on feedback from local Conservation staff on what needs doing. Read more

This is a terrible idea. Bigger is never better. Each community that is currently taking care of their conservation areas are the ones that have an invested interest and knowledge to make sure they are on top of any issues and concerns!

I currently live very close to the RRCA and have been disappointed with up keep of nature trails and paths in RRCA jurisdiction. Will this consolidation make things better or worse? I was recently on the trails and was shocked to see the unkempt trails. Read more

My family has become familiar with the conservation authority near our home due to our son doing a college placement with part of their team and volunteer work with them. The local staff understand their area and the people who live within that area. Read more

It is obvious that the government is proposing this for one reason - the ability to control the conservation authorities through the reduction of the number of authorities so that the government can get what they want to develop. That was obvious when the Premier went after the Green Belt. Read more
