Absolutely NO to the proposed Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) merger. It is completely unreasonable to expect decisions affecting my community to be made by individuals located 1,500 kilometres away with no stake, knowledge, or interest in our local realities. Read more

To make a huge territory to include all these conservation areas is a ridiculous proposition. The deterioration of each would be inevitable It would be nearly impossible to oversee these areas. Cut. Ford's budget elsewhere. Read more

Merging conservation areas is a mistake. It will result in misuse, lack of care, lack of funding for important projects, cause job loss and government interference in what should be locally run and locally supported. Read more

The amalgamation of these individual conservation areas is not a good idea. Losing the smaller foot prints will not do anything for conservation as we have seen in action too many times before. Read more

I am very disappointed with the decision to collapse the individual conservation authorities to only 7. This looks, to me, as another attempt to destroy our greenbelt and our conservation areas for the profit of developers, generally Con donors. Read more

Leave Thunder Bay's regional conservation authority alone. They understand local problems and how to address them quickly. We don't need or want someone over a thousand kilometers away making decisions for our region. Read more

This is clearly your plan to take the authorities, under-fund them and then try to sell off key land or water when they lack the resources to manage them under privatization. How about you stick to alcohol and stickers and leave our perfectly functional system alone.

The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) should not be merged with other authorities as proposed. The LRCA is geographically distinct being situated in Northwestern Ontario, and undoubtedly manages similar but distinct issues. Read more

I don’t support this amalgamation of Conservation Authorities. I don’t believe someone 1800 km should be making decisions here in Thunder Bay. Our ecosystems are unique to our area and any decisions that would affect them in anyway should be made locally.

I had an unsatisfying interaction with a local Conservation Authority. The organization was Grey Sauble Conservation Authority - they took a payment for trees to be planted in the region and then refused to follow up, answer e-mails, or provide trees. Read more

I live in Grey Sauble and my conservation team works tremendously hard. They listen to our feedback and take the responsibility of managing our watershed seriously. They are absolutely fantastic with support and annual tree sales in the spring. Read more

As a resident of Thunder Bay, I am OPPOSED to the Province’s proposed amalgamation of the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) with six other Southern Ontario Conservation Authorities to form the “Huron-Superior Regional Conservation Authority”. Read more

I am not in support of the amalgamation of Conservation Authorities to ‘better align with provincial priorities.’ It is important that local conservation authorities serve as a voice for their local area, advocating for environmental protections, unique to each area.
