We approved the updated Fire Management Policy for Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves. These changes will modernize and streamline fire management planning for these protected areas and enhance opportunities for the ecological benefits of fire, while continuing to protect people and property.
Bill 5 was introduced on October 5, 2021, and if passed, would put a hold on the environmental assessment application for the Upper York Sewage Solution undertaking. The government has established an Advisory Panel to provide advice on options to address wastewater servicing capacity needs in York Region.

We have exempted the Bradford Bypass project from duplicative requirements of the EAA by way of a regulation. The regulation sets conditions for the assessment process going forward and for continued environmental protection and consultations. The Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry have amended Ontario Regulation 826 under the Niagara Escarpment Planning and Development Act to add the Pleasant View Survey lands to the area of development control.

On September 28, 2021 Ontario filed O. Reg. 679/21, Community Net Metering Projects, and other consequential amendments to provide a framework for community net metering (CNM) and authorize the West Five development as a CNM demonstration project. The new regulation will support innovation and learning for community-based energy systems in Ontario.
