The Director of Mine Rehabilitation has acknowledged receipt of the Closure Plan according to the provisions of the Mining Act. The Certified Closure Plan is now considered filed and the proponent must comply with the Closure Plan.

Amended the Ontario Energy Board Act, 1998, to provide government with authority to ensure fair and informed decision-making at the OEB including broadening participation in hearings, providing authority to make certain directives, temporarily reinstating the status quo 40-year revenue horizon, and streamlining certain leave to construct processes.
We amended the Conservation Authorities Act to ensure that conservation authorities focus on their core mandate and to improve public transparency, consistency, and accountability in conservation authorities’ operations.
Amendments were made to O. Reg. 267/03 under the Nutrient Management Act, 2002 to remove the five-year expiry of the Agricultural Operation Planning certificate. Housekeeping amendments to the Regulation and Protocol were also made to add clarity. No changes were made to the proposal as a result of consultation.

The ministry is moving forward with amending regulations made under the Environmental Protection Act and the Ontario Water Resources Act to streamline permissions for certain low risk short-term water taking activities. These amendments align approval requirements with the activity’s level of risk, while maintaining environmental oversight.
A pre-conversion period was set that included a cessation of staking mining claims, the suspension of a number of transactions relating to mining claims and removed the requirement for claim holders to perform assessment work for a set time period.
