The Ministry is issuing a Minister’s Order to Algoma Ferrous Industries Inc., under subsection 147(1) of the Mining Act, to file a closure plan to rehabilitate mine hazards at the MacLeod Mine site. The result would be the receipt of a closure plan for the rehabilitation of mine hazards, including associated financial assurance.
Agnico Eagle Mines Limited has submitted a Mine Closure Plan Amendment for filing by the Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines as required under the Mining Act. This Closure Plan proposes rehabilitation measures to be implemented upon the eventual closure of Agnico Eagle Mines Limited’s Far Field Areas.
