The government has released A Place to Grow which replaces the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2017. Changes to O. Reg. 525/97 ensure the Minister’s approval is required for official plan amendments that implement provincial mapping for the Agricultural System for the Greater Golden Horseshoe and Natural Heritage System for the Plan.
A Place to Grow: Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe 2019 came into effect on May 16, 2019 replacing the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2017. Modifications to O. Reg. 311/06 support the implementation of the plan by providing transitional treatment for certain planning matters currently in process.
The ministry is not proceeding with the proposed Land Use Compatibility Guideline as a result of feedback received through the Environmental Registry. The current D-Series guidelines for land use compatibility will remain in effect. Any potential future updates to land use compatibility guidance would be posted as a new proposal on the Registry.
The Director of Exploration has made a decision on the exploration permit application PR-21-000156 to Great Lakes Nickel Limited for early exploration activities approximately 100 kilometres south of Timmins, Ontario, in Asquith and Fawcett Townships; Districts of Sudbury and Timiskaming, North-East Region.
The Minister has updated mapping for the Downtown Burlington Urban Growth Centre, the Downtown Milton Urban Growth Centre, and Midtown Oakville Urban Growth Centre contained in the 2008 policy document “Size and Location of Urban Growth Centres in the Greater Golden Horseshoe”.
